How to Use FTP Syncing Through the cPanel Plugin

If you have a web hosting account, and have created a site on our platform through the cPanel plugin, we’ve made it easy to sync your website files on your existing hosting account.

Here’s How it Works

A new FTP account is automatically generated & will be securely added on your web hosting account through the cPanel plugin. Below you’ll find instructions on how to easily sync your website to the new FTP account. This happens once your site is published & you use the simple FTP Syncing feature (see instructions below).

1. Log into your account – click the cPanel plugin & enter your password.

Click Breezi cPanel plugin to log into your account

This login screen displays after clicking the cPanel plugin, once you’ve already created an account.

From your cPanel, click the plugin icon. You’ll then be taken to a login screen where you’ll need to enter the password you set when you first created your account through the cPanel plugin. If you don’t remember your password, you can click the “Forgot Password?” link to set a new one.

2. Once your site is ready to be published, click “Publish”.

You must publish your website before FTP Syncing can be used

Make sure to publish your website before using FTP Syncing.

If you need more time to create, design, or add content to your site before publishing, there’s no rush! Just know that you won’t be able to use the FTP sync feature, to store your website files in your web hosting account, until you’ve clicked “Publish”. You can always publish, and then unpublish if you need to – the “Unpublish” option is under “More”.

3. Click “FTP Syncing” to copy your website files over to your hosting account.

Click More and then FTP Syncing to sync your website files

Click “More” then “FTP Syncing” to copy your website files to your hosting account.

After you’ve published your website, click “More” and then “FTP Syncing”. This will open a screen that has already auto-populated the username, password, and FTP host for a newly created FTP account, which has been added in your web hosting account.

If you leave the optional “Directory to Upload” field blank, your site files will be uploaded to the /public_html folder, and your site will display on your primary domain automatically. NOTE: If you already have a website and have files in your /public_html folder, doing this will ONLY override any existing files that share the same exact file name. So if you’re concerned about overriding any of your existing files, we recommend saving them to another folder. Another option is to enter a directory in the FTP Sync window where you’d like to have your new website files added to, in the “Directory To Upload” field – this can be any directory you’d like to create on the new FTP account, and you’ll just need to make sure your domain is pointed to the folder in order for your website to display (please contact your hosting provider for assistance).

IMPORTANT: It’s important that you do not change the FTP username, password, or host that’s auto-populated, otherwise the FTP syncing will not work. You also should never change the FTP information for this new account in your hosting account.

4. Click “Sync Now” and you’re done!

Click "Sync Now" to have your website files copied to your hosting account

Click “Sync Now” to have your website files added to the new FTP account.

To finish the process, just click the “Sync Now!” button. It will take a minute or two for the file syncing to complete, so please do not close this window until you see the success message display. That’s it, you’re done! Now your most recently updated website files are copied over to your new FTP account on your web hosting account.

Update Your Website Anytime

Whenever you need to make updates to your website, just login by way of the cPanel plugin. Once you’re done making your updates, simply click the “FTP Syncing” option under “More” and then click “Sync Now!” – your FTP account information is already saved, and your updated website files will sync to update your live website. Again, please note that the FTP information should not be changed on the FTP Syncing screen, or the sync will no longer function.
